“Study on Reflections (Delayed But Not Forgotten)” is a spatial sound installation exploring the physical and perceptual properties of sound over distance. The physical space of the gallery is augmented with a virtual simulation of sound — distant events that take time to reflect and reverberate throughout the multiple speakers. The piece was inspired by an experience of listening to distant fireworks in a rural setting, with reflections occurring across a wide river a few seconds after the initial sonic event. The duration between event and reflection is a silent testimony to the movement of air across vast distances.
